Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I contact you for a quote?

After we receive your call or web enquiry, we will take as many details as possible: size, location, what you want the building for. We will form a plan and Phil will phone you to discuss aspects such as roof lines, and material options (we can supply with steel, concrete and wood options) then we will write you a quote. Often quotes can be done over the phone.

Once the quote is approved we will write up the contract and after it’s signed off, plans will be drawn up by our draughtsman and sent to engineers for bracing and design elements. Structure Wise can also help with the building consent and permitting process.

Once consents are through we will schedule the build.

What’s the warranty on your buildings?

We stand behind our products and we stand behind our workmanship.

Do you accept financing?

We are sorry but we do not accept financing at this time.

Do you provide maintenance / insurance repairs of the building?

There are times when something like a forklift can go through the side of a wall! Not by choice, but by accident! These repairs are normally covered by the customer’s insurance policy. We can usually be there within 24 hours. Contact us on 0800 115 000 to discuss.

Where are buildings designed?

We are proud to say that all our buildings are designed right here in Canterbury. We have our in-house draftsman and use local engineers.

What are the various options with colour, windows, doors, ventilation etc?
There are endless material, colour, and product options. Phil will discuss the best options for your building with you.

Building consents – can you help with this?

Yes, we can either help with the whole process from start to finish or do this process for you.

How long will to take to complete my build?

This is dependent on the size of the building and aspects of the job – Phil will discuss the timeframe for your particular build with you.

Can I buy a pre fab kit and put the building together myself?

Yes, we send kit sets to the North and South Islands. Buildings are still designed to your exact specifications.

We usually send the kitset in one or two loads. Normally we send framing first and let you construct that and then send cladding separately. We do separate shipping because if sent together, the cladding tends to sit outside and damage can occur. We wait for building to be completed and measured before we send the flashings. Contact us to discuss.

What locations do you cover?

Mainly the Canterbury region for design and build, but we can send kit sets nationwide. Contact us on 0800 155 000 to discuss.

What sustainable measures is your company taking?

We are proud to say that 90% of our products are recyclable and we cut to length so there is minimal wastage.

What building materials do you use?

We use a range of steel, concrete and wood depending on your particular requirements. Contact us on 0800 115 000 to discuss.

Do you have a range of materials to suit different locations and climates?

Yes. Most of New Zealand has similar climatic conditions but we have products such as stainless steel and different grades of steel and cladding, specifically for coastal conditions where sea air causes rust and areas where sulphur can cause erosion.

If I have a non standard job/difficult space to work with how would you deal with it?

We can take any footprint and design a building to match it. If you give us an area, we’ll build on it. It doesn’t matter if it’s triangular or square, we’ll build on it and make it workable. That’s why a design and build company is so important because we build and design to your specifications and requirements.
